Adult Summer Course - More Information

For one week or for the whole summer, we offer a serious but enjoyable mixture of English, activities excursions, visits and culture! You will be taught by a small team of enthusiastic teachers, committed to helping you get the most from your time with us. You will be tested on your first day and you will be placed in a level appropriate to your needs.

The summer timetable is a balance of grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Some of these lessons are linked to our weekly accompanied visit to one of the many attractions in York, including the Minster and the National Railway Museum.

As well as the visit, the course includes a weekly full-day excursion each Saturday.

On three evenings each week we arrange activities either in the College or in the city. Activities include quizzes, barbecues, ten-pin bowling, baseball, ghost walks, cinema trips and parties. All of the activities are free of charge!

We welcome students on our Summer Course from the age of 14. We do not believe that younger students should get second best if they have a genuine desire to study. There is no upper age limit, however, the majority of the students on the Summer Course are aged 15 ~ 18. Older students might feel more comfortable on our “Adult August Course

After lessons, students can choose to follow the free cultural programme; talks on literature and British life and culture, some given by guest speakers. For those who want something less serious, we also offer a range of afternoon “after-lesson” activities.
