We are now holding exams at All Saints School AND Melton College on a Saturday. Please check your email confirmation CAREFULLY to make sure you have the correct venue!!! If you are late to the exam, you may not be able to take the test. The speaking tests may be held on the exam day OR the Monday after the exam. Please read your exam confirmation carefully to ensure you have the correct date for your speaking test.

The exam places are allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis. We are not able to reserve exam places by telephone. All details in the above table are kept up-to-date; however, you should include a second-choice date on the application form as exam dates may fill up whilst your application is in the post.

All candidates must arrive at the exam location by 9:30. For a copy of a map, including advice on possible accommodation options for candidates spending the night in York, please click here. The speaking element of all tests will normally take place on the same day as the written elements of the exam. We cannot issue you with a time for your speaking test until the day of the exam, however, if you require an early speaking test, you must contact the IELTS Administrator on the number below at least two weeks before your exam.

You can contact the IELTS Administrator on 01904 670920 between 09.00 and 17.00 Tuesday to Friday.

The IELTS Administrator can be contacted on the morning of an exam, between the hours of 8am - 10am & 2pm – 5pm on 07514 007412. If you are running late for your exam, please let me know by telephoning this number. Please note that this service is available on the morning/afternoon of an IELTS exam ONLY.

All results will be posted to the address stated on your application form two weeks after your exam. We are not permitted to give out results over the phone or by email.

Additional Test Report Forms

If you require an additional Test Report Form after your exam has taken place, you are required to complete an 'Additional TRF' form. There is a fee of £5.00 for this service. However, if you require the Test Report Form to be sent internationally (outside of the UK) the fee will be £6.50. The fee must be paid at the time of request.

Enquiry on Result

Candidates who are unhappy with their exam result can apply for a re-mark. First you must decide which part of the test result you are unhappy with: Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking. You can make an application for all or any of these papers to be re-marked by an independent examiner at the British Council. The fee for the re-mark is £60.00 which will be refunded in full if the mark is changed. If the final result remains the same, you will lose the £60.00 fee. The re-mark will take approximately 7 weeks to be processed. Please note that the British Council performs the re-mark and we are unable to influence the speed of this process. If you decide to proceed, you need to return the original Test Report Form, along with the Enquiry on Result application form and the fee of £60.00. You can pay by cheque, postal order or you can use the IELTS Credit Card payment form above to supply me with your credit/debit card details. The fee must be paid at the time of request.

We recommend that all candidates read the official 'Information for Candidates' document before sitting the IELTS exam. It contains valuable information about the application process, exam format, example questions, and a description of the IELTS results band scale. You can download and print a copy here.

Please note that we also provide IELTS Preparation Courses. Please see our Courses page for further details.
