The Gold Course is open to anyone over the age of 40 who wants to spend time in the company of like-minded adults. The Course offers a blend of English lessons, social activities, visits and excursions.

The course is a 15 hour General English course from 09:15-12:45, Monday to Friday, followed by an afternoon programme.

As one of Europe’s most historic cities, York, with its rich cultural life is an ideal location for courses for older students.

The traffic free centre has a huge choice of bars and restaurants; as well as one of the best selections of shops in the north of England.

“Gold-only” Classes

We know that students on 40+ courses prefer to be in a class with students of a similar age so we guarantee ‘Gold-only” classes at the following levels: pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced on the Late Spring, Summer and Christmas courses provided there are a minimum number of 4 students per level.

Afternoon Programme

The afternoon programme is designed with older students in mind. The visits are guided by a senior member of the College staff.  For students attending the full course, the course finishes with a farewell dinner, a great way to end a memorable stay. The afternoon and evening programme ensures that participants see as much as possible of York and some of the surrounding area.
