Young Learners Summer Course 2019
Melton College is a great place to spend a few weeks in the summer.
We want our younger students to become confident communicators and confident individuals.
Often away from home for the first time, communicating through English is part of learning self-reliance and the courage to be independent.
From 23rd June to 1st September 2019
The summer timetable is a balance of grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Older students enjoy exploring a top tourist city. For younger students, York is a safe city; big enough to be interesting, small enough to be friendly.
After lessons, students can choose from our after-class activities including; literature and talks, sport or film, we also run a homework club.
On three evenings each week we arrange activities in the College and we have a series of optional extra evening events (for a small additional payment) in the City.
Students on our Summer Course are automatically on ‘Homestay Extra’; this includes full-board, a local bus pass and airport transfers.
York is a really great city for students with lots to see and learn from in the streets, museums and historic buildings. To make the most of this, one afternoon each week will be based in a museum, an attraction or involve an activity in the City.
The Summer Course is a General English course from 09:30-15:45, Monday to Friday. There are 25 classes each week, 3 morning classes of 60 minutes and 2 afternoon classes of 45 minutes each day. Students following the Summer Course programme, if aged 16 or 17, may share classes with students following the General English Course. There is an optional cultural programme and activities in the afternoons from 16:00 to 17:00 and a full-day excursion each Saturday included in the fees. On three evenings each week we arrange activities in the College and we have a series of optional extra evening events (for an additional payment) in the City.
