York Minster is one of the most famous buildings in the UK and is the largest Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe. The present Minster took over 250 years to build and is the fifth Minster to occupy the same site since 627. Elizabeth is an experienced guide who will show you round the highlights of this wonderful building. Photography is allowed.

The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, was opened in 1996 as the new home for the national collection of arms and armour. The museum is split into five galleries. In addition, we shall visit the market (this is where Marks & Spencer began), the Corn Exchange and the Victorian arcades with their fascinating collection of shops.

Beverley is a market town in the historic East Riding of Yorkshire. It is best known for Beverley Minster, a Gothic masterpiece and one of the largest parish churches in the UK. The town also contains the remains of North Bar, a medieval gateway and Grade 1 listed building. Home to the Howard family for over 300 years, Castle Howard is a magnificent 18th Century House designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, set within the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The White Horse is set into the western edge of the Hambleton Hills near Sutton Bank. The White Horse was created in 1857: the view is said to be the best in Yorkshire, looking over towards the Dales. On the way back we will stop in Crayke, a lovely village in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', where Elizabeth will welcome you to her home for afternoon tea.

You will visit one of the many picturesque villages on the Yorkshire Coast before moving on to Whitby, famous as the birthplace of Captain Cook, Bram Stokers' novel, Dracula, and Whitby Abbey. We shall return via one of the beautiful villages in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

We will enjoy a 'taste of Yorkshire' lunch at the College. Yorkshire is home to some wonderful food, from delicious cakes to world-beating cheese to excellent meat, fish and game. Over lunch we will sample just a little of what England's biggest and best county has to offer!

The Jorvik Centre leads you through life in Viking York- the sights, sounds and smells. An incredible 40,000 objects; including bones, household tools and 10th century Viking-age buildings were discovered by archaeologists and form the basis of the Jorvik experience.

Visit the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The first stop is in Wharfedale, the most beautiful of the dales, at Bolton Abbey. We then travel to Skipton, a charming market town which is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.

Harewood House was built in the 18th Century, designed by John Carr and Robert Adam, for Edwin Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood and remains home to the Lascelles family to this day. You can visit the stunning house, the Bird Garden and explore over 100 acres of beautiful gardens. Following this we will visit Harrogate, a spa town famous for wonderful flower displays, the Turkish Baths and Tea Rooms.
