Set partly in the remains of York Castle and mainly in the remains of York Prison, The Castle Museum is best-known for Kirkgate, a reconstructed Victorian street, complete with day and night lighting and shops with staff in period costume. Barley Hall is a reconstructed medieval town house located in the city's historic centre. Imagine what life was like for the family who lived there during the 13th century.

The Hall is divided into rooms, each furnished with authentic ornaments and recreating the style of the era.
