We look forward to welcoming you to Melton College!
Preparing for your stay at Melton College
We look forward to welcoming you to Melton College!
Are you ready?
There are a few things to do before you come! 1. Have you completed your online Placement test? If not, please follow the link below. 2. Have you told us about any special diets and/or medical conditionls? If not, follow the other link below!
Have you got everything?
Sometimes airlines lose or delay your baggage. If your bag does not arrive, your leader/teacher will help you complete a form. You must do this before leaving the airport!
Welcome!
You may be nervous about meeting new people but don't worry! Many of our hosts have welcomed lots and lots of students and they will do their best to make you feel welcome. (Remember contact your parents to say you have arrived!)
In your room
You may be sharing a room with another student. Remember, this means you are also sharing the facilities, shelves, drawers etc.
In your suitcase
Clothes, including a waterproof coat, shoes you will be happy to walk in for an hour. In the bathroom, toothbrush, toothpaste and haircare products. Your host will provide you with a towel.
Chocolate and presents!
You are on full-board so will not have to buy anything. However, almost everyone likes chocolate and we have a café selling drinks, chocolate and snacks, as well as College Hoodies and Mascots.
Don't be shy
Tell your host what you like and dont like to eat. Tell them if there are things which frighten you - e.g. spiders
When/What
Find out when your hosts eat their meals. Ask about safety - things like locking doors and windows. Find out if there are extra safety rules if the host has small children
Coming to school
Your host may come with you or they may just give you directions. Be confident and ask people for help, if you need to.
We drive on the left
This is really important!! For most of you, we drive on the other side of the road. Be very careful and remember to look right first. If possible, use a pedestrian crossing
In your school bag
Bring Pens, pencils etc, just like you would for school in your own country
Leave your passport in your bedroom!
In the UK you do not need formal ID. Leave your passport in your bedroom, somewhere safe and only take it out when it is time to go back to the airport
We are here to help you!
We are here 24/7! We have an emergency number 07702596819 and you can ring us at any time. Our Safeguarding Officer, Jake will meet you on your first day and is available to talk to you if you are worried about anything. You can also speak to Denise, or to Andrew
We look forward to meeting you
