This is our chance to highlight some of the places of interest which make York one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe
We will show you what you need to explore the city on your own, such as the bus stops, where to change money, the main shopping areas and our meeting points for activities in town
More than just trains!

York has a rich railway history and is home to the largest Railway Museum in the World
It's not all about trains and engineering. This enormous museum also includes interactive displays and demonstrations, as well as record breakers and world firsts!
Look for clues in our mediaeval streets

Treasure Hunts are a city-based puzzle. The answers are found in shop windows and on street signs - but can you find them?
Compete against other teams to find clues and answers around the city centre. Tricky questions will require lateral thinking and good team work to win the prize.
Meet the locals

Projects are a great way to get to know the city, speak with locals and visitors while practising your English.
You will prepare a team project in your lessons and spend the afternoon completing it in the city centre.
Typical British Baking

Changeover day

On Sundays we say hello to new students, and goodbye to those returning home. We run a transfer service to Leeds and Manchester airports from early morning until the evening
It's always sad to say goodbye, but we are sure you will have had a terrific time with us and shall take home many cherished memories of your time in York!
England's best city walls!

A chance to walk the 3.2km circuit of York's famous mediaeval Bar Walls.
We will guide you round and explain the history as we follow in the footsteps of York's medieval residents.
The largest Medieval Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe!

York Minster dominates the city skyline and is the biggest tourist attraction in the region!
Morning classes will give you a taste of some of the Minsters history. In the afternoon we will bring the lesson to life with a guided tour around this amazing building

How many strikes will you get? The Melton College bowling championship allows bowlers of all abilities to have fun and try their best. Will you triumph and be crowned our inhouse champion?
In the medieval heart of York

A medieval town house in the city's historic centre. Imagine what life was like for the family who lived there during the 13th century!
This reconstruction of the original Hall is divided into rooms, each furnished with authentic ornaments to recreate the style of the era.
Unearth York's Past

Dig into some of York's archeological history, exploring fascinating artefacts from the last 2000 years in the city.
Visitors become archaeologists for the afternoon, taking to special indoor excavation pits filled with replica Roman, Viking, Medieval and Victorian finds.
Step back in time!

York , or Jorvik, as the Vikings used to call it, was a very important city for the Vikings. Ride through a reconstructed Viking street and see how the residents of Jorvik used to live.
Nowadays, Jorvik is one of the city's most popular tourist attractions.

A day at the seaside

Yorkshire has some of the most dramatic coastline in England with long sandy beaches, high cliffs and some beautiful coastal towns and villages
We will visit the smugglers paradise of Robin Hood's Bay, then go to Whitby, where Dracula famously first set foot in England. After wandering around the picturesque town, where you can look around the little shops or try some of the best fish and chips in the country, we will stop by Goathland train station on the way home - a must for Harry Potter fans!

Swords and shopping

The Royal Armouries is home to one of the world's largest collections of arms and armour, but also provides a fascinating insight into some of the wars which have shaped Europe over the last 1000 years.
The museum is in Leeds and a short walk brings us to the shopping area for some free time!
