Sacred and secular Medieval splendour

The guilds of York each had their own hall, these, and some incredible Medieval churches help give a flavour of the City from the Norman period.
Your teacher will quide you round a small selection of our halls and churches.
Viking Kingdom!

York was the Capital of Viking Britain and their City was based on the banks of the river. A major excavation in the 1970s uncovered streets, houses and thousands of artifacts, many of which became the basis for the Jorvik Viking Centre.
Raise a glass to local brewing

OK, we are biased but the best beer in Britain comes from Yorkshire and we will show you why! York is surrounded by some famous Yorkshire breweries from Samuel Smiths in Tadcaster to the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham. Try some different local styles and find out about the renaissance in micro brewing.
The largest Medieval Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe!

York Minster dominates the city skyline and is the biggest tourist attraction in the region!
We will have a look round, including a guided tour. This is also a great location for a "Lesson Out" so we will be doing some project work based round our visit.
A local landmark, followed by tea

The white horse dominates the view of The North York Moors. This local landmark is, in fact, relatively recent having been created in the 18th century by the local school teacher. A walk above the horse gives amazing views of the vale of York. On the way home we will stop for afternoon tea
The beautiful Yorkshire dales, followed by a little shopping!

Bolton Abbey is famous as one of the most beautiful places in The Yorkshire Dales National Park. We will visit the Abbey, walk round the estate and enjoy the scenery before heading to Harrogate, a pretty little spa town for some free time and shopping.

On Sundays we say hello to new students and goodbye to those going home. We run a transfer service to Leeds and Manchester airport from early morning until the evening. It's sad to say goodbye but we hope you have had a great time with us and will have many happy memories of your time in York!
England's finest City Walls

York has some of the finest City Walls in Europe and they provide great views of the City.
The walls surround the medieval city in a c-shape (there was originally a lake to one side of the City) and are almost unchanged since their constriction in the 13th Century.
Walk down a Victorian street

When John Kirk founded the Castle Museum in the old prison buildings he started a trend for reconstructions within museums that continues to the present day. Kirkgate, the reconstructed Victorian street is the heart of this incredible museum but there is much more besides.
Accompanied by your teacher you will explore the various galleries of the museum.
A real taste of Yorkshire!

Yorkshire is home to centuries of Cheese making and today the region boasts some amazing artisan cheeses from the farmland and National Parks around York.
You will have the chance to taste a range of cheeses, learn how they were made and find out about the places the come from.
More than just trains!

York is home to the largest Railway Museum in the World.
It's not all about trains and engineering. This enormous museum also includes the Royal Carriages. See how the British Royal Family from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II travel by train!

Nothing says Yorkshire like Yorkshire Pudding and the good news is they are really easy to make! We will make some puddings and try some other sweet Yorkshire delicacies!
A day at the seaside

Yorkshire has some of the most dramatic coastline in England with long sandy beaches, high cliffs and some beautiful coastal towns and villages.
We will visit Scarborough and walk up to the Castle for a breathtaking view of both bays.

The Royal Armouries is home to one of the world's largest collections of arms and armour, but also provides a fascinating insight into some of the wars which have shaped Europe over the last 1000 years.
The museum is in Leeds and a short walk brings us to the shopping area for some free time!
