We understand that the process of finding the right course, travelling, and learning in a foreign country can be quite daunting.

That's why we've designed the 'Student Pathway'. This is a one stop shop for every bit of information you'll need, from planning your trip, to making the journey to York, all the way to returning home, for students and parents alike - so that everyone can get as much out of the experience as possible. By following each section bit by bit, you should have access to all the information you'll need to know at every stage of the journey. This has been separated into a number of useful headings, to help streamline the process for you: By understanding and completing each section in order, your Student Pathway should become clear and concise, leaving no room for doubt. The first step of your application process wil be finding the right course for you. Melton College offers a variety of learning experiences, catering for younger students typically aged 12-18, as well as our Gold Course for ages 40+.

You've found a course you want to take - great!

Once you are satisfied and ready to apply, you can fill out our application form or send an email to booking@meltoncollege.co.uk so we can get started on placing you as soon as possible. The next few slides will cover the important information that we'l need to know throughout the application process, which is what course you want to apply for, who will be attending, what accommodation you will need, any medical details we need to know, and how the student will be getting to and from the airport and the college. Following our pre-departure programme, linked below, is a great way of keeping track of everything that needs organising for your trip!

Pre-Departure Programme

There are two options for accommodation during your stay at Melton College.

Students have a choice between choosing 'Homestay Accomodation' or booking a room at the 'Melton Guest House'. Further information can be found by following the links provided. We also offer a taxi / transfer service, both from the airport to the college on arrival, and from the college to the airport for the student's departure, which we recommend for all students. This is a good place to consider which airport you want to fly to, what your flight details will be, and whether you want to make use of our transfer service - it's very important that we are made aware of all of these as soon as possible so we can take care of you on arrival!

While the Pre-Departure Programme is important for you to ensure you're fully prepared for your trip to Melton College, it also ensures we recieve all the documentation we require to gaurantee the full safety and wellbeing of you and all of our students.

There are two very important documents that need to be filled out as part of this process - the Travel Permission and Parental Consent Form. It is vital that we recieve a copy of these signed documents as soon as possible, to be completed by the parent or guardian of any under 18 students in question.

If you are staying at a homestay, this includes details on your host and the address you will be living at.

Before you go, we recommend that you re-familiarise yourself with our Pre-Departure Programme, ensuring everything is packed, prepared, and ready for your journey. By now, both parties should have all the information they need to get you from the airport to your accommodation, then back again when it's time to leave. See you soon!

Pre-Departure Programme

It's your first day at Melton College!

We ask that students are at the college on their first day for 9:00AM, where they can check-in and be made prepared for a 9:30AM start to the school day, where you will properly introduced to the campus, course, and any information that will be important for you throughout your stay. Remember, it's our job to keep you happy and safe (and teach you a bit of English along the way!) so if you ever have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to approach any member of staff at any time.

During the week, you'l be enjoying a tailored learning experience designed to provide an optimal level of difficulty for your level of english. On top of lessons and adequate breaks, where you have access to our extensive leasure activities and café, we also provide a wide range of lessons out and extracurricular activities designed to incorporate relevant English interactions with the history and culture of York.

While studying at Melton College, we always strive to keep you updated and informed about all the extracurricular activities available to you throughout the week. Depending on what course you are on, this could involve trips to one of York's extensive museums, cinemas, bowling alleys, river cruises, and so much more! Some of these activities are provided as part of your course, while some are an additional extra which you can choose to involve yourself in or not. Should you also wish to look ahead at the itinerary of your stay in advance, the programmes for each course can be found by navigating to the desired course page, then viewing the activity programme provided.

Rise and shine - you're off on an excursion!

Saturday is the day of the big College trip out of York. These trips take you to a wide variety of places, including Leeds, Whitby and Harrogate. Your teachers will provide plenty of preperatory materials and information prior to the trip, so you can safely make the most of your time away. Make sure you familiarise yourself with the schedule, and are acting responsibly and safely while you're out!

It's time to say goodbye...

We hope you've had a brilliant time at Melton College. If using our transfer service, you will be made aware of when and how you'l be picked up and taken to the airport, where you will be safely dropped off. Many safe travels and happy returns!
