The Royal Armouries is home to one of the world's largest collections of arms and armour, but also provides a fascinating insight into some of the wars which have shaped Europe over the last 1000 years.

The museum is made up of several galleries across its six floors, taking visitors through the history of arms designed for tournament, war and self-defence, from different timelines and world regions.

Leeds is connected to Manchester and Liverpool by a canal which crosses the Pennines, a range of hills between Yorkshire and Lancashire. To travel between Leeds and Manchester by train, it would take approximately one hour, but by boat on the canal you would need 45 hours!

The canal runs through Leeds city centre, offering a nice walk and a quick escape from the busy city centre.

This Mural, called Paving the Way, was commissioned by Leeds United to celebrate their partner with rapper Jay-Z and his entertainment agency Roc Nation. It honours the diverse heritage of the club, its players and its fans.

In the mural you can see club legends Albert Johanneson and Lucas Radebe, with England and former Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who was born and grew up in Leeds. The background shows the New York skyline, representing the home of Roc Nation.

The Corn Exchange is home to many independent stores selling vintage clothing and unique products.

Before Leeds became a big urban city famous for its shopping arcades, the area relied on farming to generate wealth. The Corn exchange used to be where farmers from the region brought their crops, such as wheat and maize (also called corn), to trade and sell it, making as much money as possible.

Leeds Kirkgate Market is one of the largest indoor markets in Europe. It is home to some of the city's most locally-loved traders, with businesses ranging from fresh food and drink to fashion, flowers, and jewellery.

The market has been open since 1857, and is where Marks and Spencer, one of the UK's biggest supermarket and department store chains, first began.

Leeds has been a popular shopping destination for more than 100 years.

Thornton’s Arcade is a very good example of a typical, northern English shopping arcade. It is quite narrow with small shops and a simple design. Victoria Arcade is very different. Queen Victoria, who ruled England from 1837-1901, asked one of her favourite architects to design and create a new arcade in Leeds in the same style as arcades found in Knightsbridge, a rich area of London. This meant that big fashion designers were accessible in the north of England for the first time. You will notice that the design of Victoria arcade is much grander that Thornton’s Arcade, with grand ceilings and intricate patterns.

Although they currently play in the second division of English football, Leeds United is one of the biggest and well supported football teams in England. In the 1999-2000 season Leeds finished 3rd in the Premier League, and even made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2000-2001, where they eventually lost to Valencia.

You will not be able to visit the club's stadium, Elland Road, but the official Leeds United store is located in the Trinity Shopping Centre for replica kits and official merchandise!

Founded in 1768, The Leeds Library is one of the oldest libraries of its kind in Britain. The building is listed as an example of leading Georgian achitecture and holds a collection of over 140,000 items.

The library provides a beautiful space to browse some of the fiction, travel books, biographies and history records that make up its collection.

Leeds Art Gallery hosts exhibitions from a range of artists and styles and holds a large collection of modern and contemporary British art.
