York was an important city for the Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans. If you are interested in history, York has much to offer and is a top tourist destination! Walk round the ancient walls and take in the breathtaking views of York Minster (the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe), or head to one of York's thirty world-class museums.

York has excellent rail links with direct trains to Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, London, Edingburgh and many more! This makes York an excellent base for discovering what the UK has to offer.
