Transfer Service

We offer a transfer service from Manchester and Leeds Airports. This page explains, in detail, how the service operates.

The Transfer Service operated from and to all terminals at Manchester and Leeds Airports. We meet students from and deliver students to any airline but only between specific times and only on Sunday, our change-over day. The transfer service from Leeds and Manchester operates for incoming flights that land between 0700 and 2000. Students who land before 0700 may not be met and will have to wait. Please note, students under the age of 18 may be detained by the authorities if there is no one at the airport to collect them.

The Transfer Service is shared and students may need to wait while their driver collects students from other flights.. We assume it will take up to one hour to clear customs and security. Students will not be expected to wait for more than two additional hours so the maximum waiting time will be three hours from scheduled landing time.

Students meet their driver on exit from the secure area. Their driver will be holding an A4 size sign with Melton College and the College logo on it. If student cannot see their driver on exit from the secure area, they should go to the information desk and ask for assistance.

The Transfer Service to Leeds and Manchester Airport is available for flights which take off between 0700 and 2000. We aim to deliver students to the airport a minimum of two hours before take-off.

The Transfer Service is shared and students may arrive at the airport more than two hours before their flight if their driver is also delivering students to earlier flights. Students will not be expected to wait for more than two additional hours so the maximum waiting time will be four hours before scheduled take off time.

If your luggage does not arrive you must fill in a report before leaving the secure area. If possible, please contact either your driver (you will be sent their number) or the College Emergency Number (07702596819) so we know what is happening.

When selecting a flight it is important to remember the travel time between Leeds Airport and York (about 1 hour) and Manchester Airport and York (normally 1 hour 30 minutes but up to 2 hours during the rush hour).  This means a student with a 0700 take off will have to get up at about 0230~0300!
