Our son Matthew (11 years old) had a fantastic experience at Melton College in York. We, as parents, accompanied him. One of us worked remotely from the guesthouse adjacent to the college, while the other spent each day exploring the beautiful city of York.

Matthew went to school every day with great enthusiasm. While learning English is the main focus, fun and safety are clearly prioritized. The teachers were outstanding – not only in teaching English but also in supporting the students’ social development.

We stayed in a comfortable family room and enjoyed an extensive continental breakfast every morning. Everything was perfectly arranged, and we truly lacked nothing. The afternoon activity program was also very enjoyable and well organized.

This combination of taking a holiday, working remotely, and helping your child advance in English is something we highly recommend! During our stay, we also made wonderful new friends, including the owner and headmaster Andrew and his colleague Lace, who made us feel incredibly welcome from the very first moment.

In short: a warm and unforgettable experience for our whole family!

Konstantin (14) At Melton College I felt very welcome because of all the friendly teachers and great activities. It felt more like a holiday than a school lesson because the people treated me like a friend, not like a student.

It was wonderful, that we hat the possibility to do our courses in parallel: the Junior Courses for the boys, and Gold Courses for parents and grandparents, each fitting to the individual level. Thank you so much for this great experience!

The Guest House was the perfect place for us to stay! The kids all together enjoyed the huge garden and played football, basketball and table tennis nearly every free minute. We adults met such nice and interesting people here and talked a lot in the evenings.

I had already spent time at Melton College when I was a kid, so this time I decided to bring my daughter. We spent two weeks at Melton College and had an amazing time. The lessons were perfectly tailored to our needs, as we were able to request specific topics. The emphasis was placed on what we already knew and could do, rather than on what we lacked. Each lesson was individually designed and we not only learned a variety of things but also experienced a range of different teaching methods. The excursions were both fun and a great way to practice speaking English.
Before going to York, we had discussed whether to stay with a host family or at the guest house. In the end, we decided on the guest house, and it was definitely worth it. We enjoyed nice breakfasts and dinners every day. One of the highlights of staying at the guest house was getting to know the other families. After dinner, we would head to the nearby pub while the kids played football or basketball in the spacious gardens. We’re already thinking about our next stay.

I really liked my reading, writing, vocabulary and speaking lessons, because they were varied, interesting and quite fun. The grammar and listening lessons were done well, I just don‘t like listening and grammar that much.  I really enjoyed the afternoon activities which mostly were really funny and pretty different, so it never was the same. My absolute favourite activity was the chocolate trail, where we were able to eat chocolate if we found the right store on the map which offered it. I had a really nice time and definitely will come here again.

As parents of two young college students, I appreciate that the teachers are very kind in adapting to the children’s language level and teaching the language in a joyful experience. Many excursions are organised. We appreciated that our children were cared for. It has always been a safe, confident and trustful environment.

I am proud that I was able to be a college student here at the age of 8, and take part in classes. If I didn’t understand something, the teachers were able to explain very well in English, and we also played a lot of games.

We absolutely loved our language trip to Melton College in York! It was an incredibly wonderful experience. Andrew and his team immediately and effortlessly catered to all our individual needs, making us feel right at home as a family. The kids simply adored Andrew and the other teachers from the first moment. The convenience of having the college right next to the guest house was fantastic; the kids could easily move back and forth, enjoy the beautiful gardens, and quickly find their way around.

Not only did they love the varied and engaging lessons with their enthusiastic teachers, but the afternoon activities were also fantastic. In the evenings, there was volleyball and table tennis, which added to the fun. My children and I are unanimous: WE WILL BE BACK!

It was really great and I had a lot of fun. We played some cool games in the lessons. The teachers were excellent and the food was delicious, yummy…It is just perfect at Melton College. Luisa (11)

It was great fun. I quickly made new friends. I especially loved the ice cream after meals and playing volleyball with Andrew. When I arrived, I could hardly speak English. Now, I can speak better and practice a lot until I am back at Melton College. Julius (9)

Not only did Kara have a lot of fun at the College and on the excursions but I also had two very relaxing weeks in York.

We enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere at Melton Guest House.

Kara liked her helpful and competent teachers and got a confidence boast speaking English.

The combination of the Guest House with the College is an excellent concept for families with children!  Not only learning but also fun, joy and many activities were the order of the day!

This was a wonderful language holiday which we will definitely repeat!

An agency in Germany recommended that we book Melton College and it was a really good recommendation!

The lessons were well-tailored to the children’s needs. The teachers found various ways to encourage our children and make them curious and interested. Andrew found a perfect activity for our kids each day- you could feel the experience he has teaching and entertaining kids.

The activities for the adults were great too! We participated in the Gold Course and really enjoyed being taught by such enthusiastic teachers with so much experience. The lessons were interesting and often linked to arts, people and culture, politics and history.

We loved the atmosphere in York and at Melton College. Thanks to the team for two great weeks!

At the beginning I thought “Mum , Dad , why again to school ? I don’t want , school has just finished “ . But I was wrong.  I realized tha Melton is not like an italian school, it is hard to find in our school such a perfect combination of  big, beautiful green gardens, very good teachers and nice typical building. One thing I really loved was the afternoon short excursions and activities like boowling or minigolf and the nice trips outdoor on Sunday .

I was also happy for the nice friends I met who were kind and all good people from other countries .

In addition to this: all teachers are super good, patients and kind. Each lesson is super involving and it seems a bit like a game.

To sum up, it was a fantastic experience and I would go back to Melton again if I had the chance .

Our 12 and 10 year old boys first took part in the Autumn Junior Course for 5 weeks at Melton College. They had a fantastic experience, learning through play and in a good atmosphere, while their language and pronunciation skills improved enormously. They also had a fantastic time during the afternoon activities and weekend programs. They loved the teachers and the school so much that we came back for the April course at their request. We were most surprised that instead of relaxing, playing video games and watching TV, our sons asked us to let them study at Melton during the school holidays! My husband and I have already attended the gold course in April and like the children, we have had a very good experience. Very nice teachers, interesting tasks and an exciting programme of activities. We re quite sure that York and Melton College will be a very nice memory for us!

The teachers are very kind and professional. My daughter’s English improved a lot – as did mine!  We are sure that we will come back to Melton College again. Thanks a lot!

I have spent a beautiful week at Melton College with my son David. My English has significantly improved over the week for which I am grateful to the  wonderful teachers and our host family..I recommend as a family vacation -York is really beautiful City!

I came to study English for the first time at Melton college in 1996, aged 25. Another 25 years passed and my daughters started having to study English. The first place that I thought of was Melton College, where I also returned with my daughter Viki to study English together and experience York and the many activities organised by Melton. A beautiful experience.

We had a very good time at Melton College and also met a lot of friendly and nice people. The lessons were well designed and it was an instructive time. all teachers designed their lessons individually. We loved the family-oriented atmosphere at Melton. We are definitely considering coming back!
