Pre-Arrival Information for Parents – Summer

Below is some pre-arrival information we’d like to share with you.

Our Programme
I am sure you have already had a look through the Summer Junior Course page, this is where you can also find our Activity Programme that the students will be following during their stay!
We have put together a Pre-Departure Information presentation for parents and students that, we hope, will answer many questions.
And for our younger students, we have a version to go through with parents called Ready for Melton College!

Please read these through carefully as you’ll be required to complete some of the steps prior to arrival!
Placement
We have a short test for the students to do. Don’t worry, nothing too difficult but please ask them to complete it sometime in the next week. You can find the test here.
Permission to Travel
Unless you are bringing your child to York, we will need you to complete a Permission to Travel form.
Parental Consent
We will also need you to complete a Parental Consent form if you haven’t already. This is where you give us permission to act in the best interests of your child during their time in York. I know this seems strange when you are in the city with the kids, but it covers things like supervision on activities!
Allergies and Medical
In addition, if your child has any allergies or medical conditions, please complete this survey.
Insurance
If you have not bought insurance through Melton College, please ensure we have details of the insurance you have arranged.

Parents’ WhatsApp Group
During the Summer Junior Course, we host a parents WhatsApp group. This allows us to keep you up-to-date with what is happening at the College.
It also allows you to contact other parents (remember, we cannot share your data without permission). This is important as it allows you to find out if, for example, other kids are travelling on the same flight. This means the students can check-in together and travel as a group.

WhatsApp for Parents Staying in York
Some of you reading this are coming with your kids and staying at Melton Guest House, or in other accommodation in the City.
We have an additional WhatsApp group for Parents staying in York and Melton Guest House. This covers meals, meeting points etc.
This is probably the most important thing here as it allows us to keep in daily contact!

Summer Course Parents’ Meeting
We will host meetings for parents of students due to attend the Summer Junior Course this year, these will usually be hosted by either the principal, Andrew, or the Academic manager, Lace.
The meeting is on Zoom and happens every Thursday at 1700 BST, (1800 CEST), please attend the meeting prior to the start of your child’s course.
Your child is also very welcome to join the meeting and ask any questions they may have!
